The school celebrated the 25th edition of the National Reading Day on June 19th. The day celebrated in honour of Father of India’s Library Movement - Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker, was marked by the streaming of a beautiful video. The school honoured Si P N Panicker who was responsible for the cultural movement to advocate reading in the state of Kerala. In recognition of his marked contribution to the culture of reading and in consequence to the universal –hundred percent - literacy rate achieved by the state of Kerala in 1990,many activities were organised for the online celebration of the day. The introductory speech provided the right ambience for setting the general tone of edifying the virtual audience by way of transforming them into a generation who love and cherish the written word. Sowparnika of Std XII presented a scintillating review of the great classic Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. A skit on the importance of reading left its indelible mark on the digital space that of late has conquered every walk of human imagination. The great Malayalam poet Kunjunni Master’s quotes and short witty epigrams included in the video were really thought inspiring. Another sparky debate on Books Vs Movies gave room for witty exchanges and forceful polemics. As per CBSE’s mandate, students are participating in various online competitions related to Reading Day.
